Masan Consumer eyes growth rebound and market listing by 2026

Since October, CHIN-SU and Nam Ngu products have been available at global retail giants Costco in the US and South Korea, and Woolworths in Australia. The move reflects Vietnam’s growing presence in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector and the rising competitiveness of locally developed brands on the global stage.

Masan Consumer, a member of Masan Group, is among Vietnam’s leading FMCG companies. It operates a closed-loop production chain – from raw materials to finished products – that adheres to international standards for quality management and food safety. Central to its innovation capacity is the Consumer Innovation Centre (CIC), which focuses on research and development (R&D) driven by a deep understanding of consumer preferences and shopping behaviour.

MCH’s strategy is built on three pillars: premiumisation, out-of-home consumption, and R&D. Each year, CIC develops over 100 new initiatives, many of which have shaped modern consumer trends, such as Omachi Self-Heating Hotpot, Nam Ngu Ly Son chilli garlic fish sauce, and Wake-Up 247 energy drinks.

By combining strong R&D capabilities with advanced technology, MCH has shortened its product development cycle to under 12 months – about twice as fast as the FMCG industry average. Between 2018 and 2024, nearly 20 per cent of its revenue came from new products, highlighting the strength of its innovation-driven growth strategy.

Expanding into international retail chains further demonstrates MCH’s ability to compete globally, showcasing the growing capacity of Vietnam’s consumer goods sector in quality management, logistics, and compliance with global standards. This milestone also strengthens the position of Vietnamese products within the regional consumer value chain.

Masan Consumer eyes growth rebound and market listing by 2026

After restructuring its distribution network, MCH expects to return to positive growth in Q4, setting a strong foundation for recovery in 2026. The company’s new direct coverage initiative aims to optimise inventory and logistics to ensure products reach points of sale closest to consumers.

“Q3 revenue fell 5.9 per cent on-year and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation were down 7.1 per cent, mainly due to short-term impacts from our new direct coverage model,” said Huynh Viet Thang, CFO of Masan Consumer. “The initiative, now rolled out in 34 provinces, has already started showing positive results since October.”

Centred on people, technology, and connectivity, direct coverage has streamlined operations by restructuring the sales force by region, automating the ordering system, and connecting sales representatives directly with points of sale. As a result, direct coverage has increased by 40 per cent to 345,000 points of sale, while the share of wholesale channels fell from 60 to 30 per cent. Labour productivity rose by 50 per cent, with costs remaining stable.

“Restructuring the distribution system is the right step for medium- and long-term growth,” said Danny Le, CEO of Masan Group. “We are moving towards modernising the entire consumer value chain in Vietnam.”

MCH is expected to return to growth in Q4. The company is also preparing for an initial public offering with advisory from international investment banks.

“The company is likely to list on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange by late 2025 or early 2026, supported by its solid financials and positive market sentiment,” a representative of Masan Group’s board of directors said. “A successful listing would pave the way for inclusion in the VN30-Index, broadening our investor base and reinforcing our position as a leading consumer goods company.”

Masan Group recorded its strongest quarterly profit since early 2022, supported by improved performance across WinCommerce, Masan MEATLife, and Masan High-Tech Materials. Building on this momentum, MCH is expected to enter a new growth phase from late 2025 to 2026 as it completes restructuring and advances plans for a public listing.

Focusing on distribution optimisation, R&D, and international expansion, MCH aims to strengthen its competitiveness in the evolving consumer goods market, positioning itself as a top Vietnamese brand built on quality, innovation, and operational efficiency.

For Jabil, sustainability is the integration of environmental health, social responsibility, governance, and economic growth to create thriving, diverse, and resilient business operations for employees and the communities in which the company operates.

Jabil’s site in Ho Chi Minh is a shining example of the company’s commitment to building a sustainable future from the inside out.

Established in 2007, Jabil in Vietnam has made remarkable strides in creating a healthier environment, empowering its local communities, and nurturing a thriving, resilient workforce, areas Jabil believes it can make the biggest impact.

Environmental responsibility at the core of operations

Rooted in that belief, environmental responsibility begins from the ground up at Jabil in Vietnam. The site continuously initiates energy-saving solutions, waste reduction initiatives, and wastewater recycling to minimise its operational footprint.

Tree-planting campaigns and green workspace efforts such as the “Go Healthy, Go Smoke Free” campaign to raise awareness around smoking cessation, a “Green Road” initiative promoting public transportation and electric vehicle use, and other projects are carried out frequently at Jabil Vietnam to strengthen environmental awareness among employees and reduce the site’s CO₂ footprint.

In July, Jabil was presented with the Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award 2025 in recognition of these efforts to build a cleaner, greener future.

“We treat sustainability as a long-term investment. Whether it’s through reducing energy consumption or optimising waste management, every effort we make can help shrink our environmental impact and improve operational efficiency,” said Khanh Nguyen, operations director at Jabil in Vietnam.

Beyond the factory walls, Jabil in Vietnam aims to make a lasting social impact. Through the company’s Jabil Cares community engagement platform, the site participates in volunteering, charity campaigns, and education-based initiatives throughout the year.

Jabil in Vietnam also contributes to Jabil’s global goal of giving back 500,000 volunteer hours annually to local communities and organises career workshops to inspire and guide the next generation.

As part of its initiative to support and invest in talented young leaders, each year Jabil in Vietnam supports around 20 university students in their third year and last year of studies in either science, engineering, technology, or business courses by covering their tuition and educational expenses.

Additionally, the scholars will also be offered training, internships, and potential career opportunities at Jabil.

“It’s inspiring to see how our teams continuously deliver quality for customers while also making time to give back to their community and develop themselves,” said Tin Phung, senior business unit manager. “This culture of purpose and progress is what makes Jabil’s Vietnam site special.”

A sustainable company starts with a sustainable workforce. At Jabil in Vietnam, employees are supported through internal scholarship programmes, structured development plans for engineering talent, and career path initiatives across all levels.

Special focus is placed on creating an inclusive culture, where women are encouraged to pursue leadership roles and all employees are given opportunities to grow. This strong people-first culture earned Jabil in Vietnam the Sustainable Workplace Award 2025 and a place among the Best Companies to Work For in Asia 2025 by HR Asia this August.

“At Jabil, sustainability is both a responsibility and a strategy,” said Huu Binh, senior finance controller at Jabil in Vietnam. “We believe our success lies in how well we care for our environment, our people, and our communities. These achievements are a reflection of the collective heart and effort of our entire team.”

The event opened with remarks from Manuel Fafian, president and managing director of Michelin Asia-Pacific, who outlined the company’s evolution from a tyre innovator to a global manufacturer of advanced materials and mobility solutions.

“Our ambition goes beyond performance,” he said. “We are building a future where every product, every solution, and every experience contributes to a better way forward – for people, for profit, and for the planet. Today’s Media Day is a showcase on how we are bringing this future to life.”

From the pioneering role in the 1899 electric land-speed record, to the current leadership in sustainable tyre technologies, Michelin continues to push boundaries.

Agreements mark new chapter in Vietnam–UK economic cooperation

On October 30 in London, during the Vietnam–UK High-Level Economic Conference attended by Party General Secretary To Lam, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang presented a series of cooperation documents between the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and UK counterparts.

These included an intergovernmental agreement on customs collaboration, as well as MoUs with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on green finance, UK Export Finance (UKEF), J.P. Morgan, and The CityUK to support Vietnam’s financial market access and the development of an international financial centre.

These agreements mark an important step in deepening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the UK, paving the way for broader economic and financial collaboration.

In particular, the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs establishes a comprehensive legal framework for coordination and information sharing between the two sides. It will support the effective enforcement of customs laws, facilitate trade flows, and promote smoother, lawful export–import and border procedures.

As a co-chair of the International Partners Group alongside the European Union under the Just Energy Transition Partnership in Vietnam, the UK has been actively supporting and financing Vietnam’s projects to reduce emissions and respond to climate change.

The MoU on Green Finance Cooperation aims to formalise and deepen collaboration in boosting sustainable finance, greening the capital market, and mobilising public-private and international resources for green growth. This takes on even greater meaning as the two countries have elevated their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

This milestone demonstrates both sides’ commitment to advancing cooperation on sustainable growth, clean energy, green infrastructure, and climate resilience.

Agreements mark new chapter in Vietnam–UK economic cooperation

To leverage London’s position as one of the world’s leading international financial centres with strengths in capital markets, international banking, insurance, green finance, and fintech, the MoU between Vietnam’s MoF and TheCityUK establishes and reinforces official cooperation frameworks for sharing experience in building, managing, and operating an international financial centre in Vietnam.

The MoU also paves the way for joint training and capacity-building initiatives for financial centre management officials, helping Vietnam prepare a skilled workforce for its future international financial centre.

The MoU between the MoF and J.P. Morgan opens new prospects for collaboration with one of the world’s leading financial institutions and reflects Vietnam’s determination to expand international cooperation, enhance fiscal and financial management capacity, strengthen sustainable capital mobilisation, and solidify its position on the global financial map.

Meanwhile, the MoU on Financial Cooperation between the MoF and UK Export Finance (UKEF) aims to strengthen collaboration in financing projects in Vietnam that utilise UK exports, further deepening bilateral economic and financial ties.

These agreements reflect the strong, results-oriented cooperation between the UK and the MoF. They reaffirm both sides’ shared vision of expanding economic and financial collaboration, deepening institutional ties, and creating long-term partnerships with leading UK financial organisations – a fitting milestone as the two countries elevate their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

AI and big data reshape Vietnam’s e-commerce landscape
Lai Viet Anh, deputy director general of the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy

As part of the Autumn Fair 2025, the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted a forum on November 1 to discuss the role of AI and big data in fostering sustainable growth models for Vietnam’s e-commerce sector.

Lai Viet Anh, deputy director general of the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy, said that in the context of rapid digital economic growth, AI and big data are essential for e-commerce to truly become a new growth engine.

“AI is not merely a tool but a strategic transformation, enabling businesses to convert massive data into competitive value and exceptional productivity,” she said.

Nguyen Huu Tuan, director of the Centre for E-Commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX), noted that the digital economy operates on data and digital technologies as its primary inputs, driving innovation in business models and productivity optimisation. Within this framework, e-commerce serves as both a driver and a pillar of digital transformation.

He cited that global e-commerce retail sales are projected to reach $6.86 trillion in 2025, up 8.3 per cent on-year. Emerging trends include mobile commerce, social commerce, cross-border e-commerce, and smart logistics.

In Vietnam, e-commerce reached a market size of $25 billion last year, growing over 25 per cent on-year, placing the country among the top 10 fastest-growing markets worldwide. The sector accounts now for about 10 per cent of total retail sales of goods and consumer services, with prominent development directions such as green e-commerce, smart logistics, and omnichannel models integrating online and offline experiences.

“AI is driving a profound transformation in e-commerce, becoming an indispensable digital assistant that enhances business efficiency and delivers superior personalised consumer experiences,” Tuan emphasised.

For shoppers, AI suggests relevant products, displays personalised promotions, summarises user reviews, and recommends similar items for easier comparison and selection. For sellers, AI supports 24/7 automated customer service, optimises product images and videos, suggests featured products during livestreams, and broadcast schedules efficient times.

The AI in eCommerce Statistics 2025 Report indicates that over 80 per cent of online retailers have applied AI to boost business performance, with the global AI in e-commerce market projected to reach $8.65 billion.

In Vietnam, 66 per cent of businesses report using AI for customer communication, and 63 per cent employ it to acquire new customers. As a result, shopping experiences have become smarter, faster, and more personalised, helping consumers easily compare and find the most suitable products.

AI and big data reshape Vietnam’s e-commerce landscape

Do Thanh Huong, head of market research at Metric Data Science JSC, said that big data is becoming crucial for the growth of Vietnam’s e-commerce. Statistics from four major platforms (Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, and TikTok Shop) show that total market sales in the first nine months of 2025 reached VND305.9 trillion ($12.2 billion). That in the third quarter alone recorded VND103.6 trillion ($4.14 billion), up 2.6 per cent on-quarter.

Shopee continues to lead with a 56 per cent market share, while TikTok Shop maintains a remarkable 69 per cent growth rate, capturing a 41 per cent market share, reflecting the rise of short-form content commerce and youth-driven consumption trends. Data also reveals that Mall (official) shops, accounting for only 2.36 per cent of total stores, contributes up to 32.39 per cent of total revenue, highlighting consumers’ increased focus on product quality and authenticity.

Huong emphasised that in an intensely competitive market, leveraging big data is no longer optional but a mandatory requirement for businesses seeking to maintain an advantage. “big data firms enable to understand markets, forecast trends, and optimise supply chains, thereby enhancing profitability and productivity,” she said.

In a technological view, Nguyen Phi Nghi, head of sales at MISA JSC, stated that AI is opening new avenues for Vietnamese businesses in sales automation. “Models like AI Sales Agents can consult, answer queries, and close deals 24/7, helping businesses improve customer reach without expanding staff,” he highlighted.

Echoing this view, Truong Thi Minh Nguyet, product and solutions director at ACCESSTRADE Vietnam, noted, “AI empowers marketers to enhance content creation productivity, as the entire process from product discovery and video production to posting and customer care, can now be automated.”

Speakers at the forum unanimously agreed that the explosion of AI and big data is reshaping Vietnam’s e-commerce market. However, to seize this opportunity, it is essential to build a national data ecosystem, establish a suitable legal framework, and develop a high-quality tech workforce.

The synergy between policy, technology, and innovation will determine Vietnam’s ability to sustain e-commerce growth and advance towards a resilient, self-reliant digital economy in the AI era.
